Este álbum surgiu com uma motivação básica em mente: evidenciar o quanto de África há em minha formação musical para a minha experimentação guitarrística. E, com isso, quis me conectar com símbolos que identificassem inspirações advindas da cultura africana a partir de minha condição afrobrasileira, sendo eu baiano, nordestino e, também, afrodescendente latinoamericano. Não quis pensar a afrobrasilidade sob uma ótica demasiado tradicional. Quis dialogar com as sonoridades experimentais diaspóricas, ou da própria África de hoje: o blues Tuareg, o dub jamaicano, o Afrofuturismo e a música experimental árabe foram meus pontos de partida. Tive como parceiros de jornada César Blax Costa e Edmar Silva em faixas alquímicas, que elegem a percussividade como centro improvisacional. "África em Mim" é um álbum que quer invocar a luta da capoeira (com o toque da iúna aprendido diretamente com Mestre Nenel), para passar por territórios alegóricos de escuta diaspórica até chegar ao universo, à astrologia, à ciência. Não existe liberdade sem luta. E "África em Mim" é uma invocação à luta, repensando a ancestralidade através do futuro.

This album came up with a basic motivation in mind: to show how much Africa there is in my musical formation for my guitar experimentation. And with that, I wanted to connect myself with symbols that identified inspirations from African culture based on my Afro-Brazilian status, being from Bahia, Northeastern and also Afro-descendant Latin American. I did not want to think of Afro-Brazillity from a too traditional perspective. I wanted to dialogue with experimental diasporic sounds, or from today's Africa itself: Tuareg blues, Jamaican dub, Afrofuturism and Arab experimental music were my starting points. I had as journey partners César Blax Costa and Edmar Silva in alchemical tracks, which choose percussion as an improvisational center. "África em Mim" is an album that wants to invoke the struggle of capoeira (with the touch of the iúna learned directly from Mestre Nenel), to pass through allegorical territories of diasporic listening until reaching the universe, astrology, science. There is no freedom without a fight. And "África em Mim" is an invocation to the struggle, rethinking ancestry through the future.

Este álbum surgió con una motivación básica en mente: mostrar cuánto África hay en mi formación musical para mi experimentación con la guitarra. Y con eso, quise conectarme con símbolos que identificaran inspiraciones de la cultura africana en base a mi condición afrobrasileña, ser bahiano, nororiental y también afrodescendiente latinoamericano. No quería pensar en Afrobrasilidad desde una perspectiva demasiado tradicional. Quería dialogar con sonidos experimentales de la diáspora, o de la propia África de hoy: el blues tuareg, el dub jamaicano, el afrofuturismo y la música experimental árabe fueron mis puntos de partida. Tuve como compañeros de viaje a César Blax Costa y Edmar Silva en pistas alquímicas, que eligen la percusión como centro de improvisación. "África em Mim" es un disco que quiere invocar la lucha de la capoeira (con el toque de la iúna aprendido directamente de Mestre Nenel), por atravesar territorios alegóricos de escucha diaspórica hasta llegar al universo, la astrología, la ciencia. No hay libertad sin lucha. Y "África em Mim" es una invocación a la lucha, repensar la ascendencia a través del futuro.

This is great industrial ambient album. The low ruble augmented by sheering metal scrapes with crescendo screeching high notes is perfect for my listening pleasure. Listened to both track twice before buying album and writing this review. SKULL FACE Rating: 10/10 SKULL FACE
