We are very pleased to offer this new version of an early GoB album based on the prose piece Don Giovanni from the novel ‘The White Hotel’ by D.M.Thomas. This is a very #NSFW sound scape. The verse is violent and highly erotic. I recommend tracking down the novel to put the verse into context.

We would like to thank Mr Thomas for his approval and for providing permission to use his work in this project.

The novel was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1981 and is a signature work by the author in what could be seen as the golden age of magical realism. Together with Rushdie, Marquez & Kundera, they reframed psychological symbolism in a secular world.

The first iteration used an electronic text/speak app which whilst workable lacks the humanity inherent in the text. This new version features a passionate and incredibly potent performance by Antonella Eye Porcelluzzi as Anna G.
The soundscape has had several edits and additions to better fit with the new performance, its pace and emotive nature.

Marla Van Horn, tout en ayant un style reconnaissable, une marque de fabrique, arrive à se renouveler sans cesse : IKUISESTI ne le démontre que trop bien. Restant fidèle au drone qu'elle exécute à merveille — "SYMUSTA" ou "HÄMÄRÄ" et sa guitare vibrante —, elle s'applique à créer un dark ambiant magnifique qui n'a rien à envier aux maîtres du genre, surtout sur la conclusion de l'album.
